Okay, so finally the last wedding reception from my family! Phew! ^_^
My 2nd sister, Dewi, celebrated her marriage to Wira, my brother-in-law (finally, someone who's older than me! Only a year older, but I don't care, as long as he's older! HA! ^_^) on Sunday, Feb 8, 2009. An intimate party of just family and close friends is always my favorite, so I am glad they kept it small size. ^_^
In terms of inspiration...well, I was thinking of Chinese influence with modern flare. Red and Gold are Chinese auspicious colors, but I don't want red to be the base, so I "translated" the gold in shades of yellow. The only "gold' colored items were the accent ribbon for the stems and the feather. I personally do not dig metallic/shiny gold, if I have to use gold, it'll be antique/old/matte gold. ^_^ I think it works great!

Their reception took place at:
MULAN
Queens Crossing Mall
136-17 39th Ave 2nd Floor, Flushing, NY 11354

I met Dominique at the UPenn Bridal Show I did last year. She is such a sweet and warm person! ^_^ And yes, it's another blessing to have our paths crossed. ^_^
Her vision was to have something simple for her reception decor and in her own words "like walking in a flower store" where you would see a bunch of flower A in one container and flower B in another. Something clean and simple. Her colors of choice were white mixed with dark brown, burnt orange and lime green. We gave each room and/or area a slightly different feel for the fun factor. Dominique also got the caterer (Feastivities Catering) to enhance the look of the rooms by utilizing bold colors of linens (great idea and very effective!) and even added pillows/cushions in one of the rooms to add more punch in the design. I totally love it!
For her bouquet, she wanted something naturalistic (a personal favorite style of mine...) and a combination of white and green color wise. She loves to incorporate herbs in the bouquet and sage is her favorite. So what I did was I used sage as her bouquet collar and it worked out great! I also loved the fragrant smell of the sage! ^_^ For the bridesmaids', we kept it simple with small bouquets of burnt orange gerbera daisies. The boutonnieres were my pride and joy from this wedding. Dominique did not want to use ribbon for the bouts wrap, so I used twine instead and they turned out marvelous! I am so happy! Too bad I didn't get any close up pictures of them! Boo hoo! If I get it one of these days, I'll definitely try to post it here.

I definitely had fun at this wedding and I have Dominique and Steve to thank for it. ^_^ Dominique is such a sweetheart. Her hugs and kind words at the end of the day really helped reaffirm me to continue doing this business. Thank you so much for everything. ^_^
Congratulations Dominique and Steve!
Many Happy Wishes for you always!! ^_^
