A Little Yellow Goes Along the Way!

I must say, Regan's wedding is one of my favorites ever! First of all...Regan let me do fun stuff for her bouquet like...weaved pussy willow for the collar! I love doing fun, different stuff! Tee hee! So I was excited about that... Then... I fell in love with her request to do a simple potted flower plant for centerpiece! And...I love her theme color of Charcoal Gray, Yellow and Mint Green! All of these things just screamed the word "F-U-N" to me! I am forever grateful to Regan for this overload of awesomeness! ^_^ Okay, before I sink further in gleefulness, let's start with the basic...

Her ceremony was held at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, Center City and reception was held a few blocks away at the Westin Hotel (the banquet manager, Jonathan Hagens, is nice and cool!).

For her bouquet, I used White Regular Gerbera Daises, White Freesias, Yellow Mini Gerbera Daisies, Eucalyptus, and Pittosporums. I then weaved the Pussy Willow tips into a "wreath" and inserted that in as the bouquet collar. This is so my pride and joy... Seriously! ^_^ I was so happy when I finished this bouquet!

So the centerpieces were setup for the ceremony decor and then repurposed at the reception. We used a mix of daffodils and tulips (love the tulips!!). Then I made a few daffodils centerpieces for the food stations. This was a brunch time reception, by the way, which I thought was so unique!

Regan gave away the centerpieces as gifts to the guests so they could plant them for their gardens - reinforcing our "GREEN" trend! Yippee!

I picked the charcoal gray planters and accented them with mint green ribbon. Besides having the yellow tulips and daffodils, I brought more yellow in by putting thin yellow ribbon on the table number. I would like to bring in the garden theme even closer by sticking the table cards on a wooden stick (easily found in any craft store), so they look like "garden signs". Tee hee!! I think it worked well! What I learned from this lovely wedding? LESS IS MORE. ^_^ I simply love it. ^_^

I am definitely lucky to have crossed path with Regan's friend, Angelique Buckley, who happens to be an awesome photographer! I think her style is artistic and if you follow this blog, I like anything that's different. She really makes my works look so much prettier... Thank you, Angelique!! ^_^ She is a graphic designer by trade but also does wedding album business. I highly recommend her works, so do check it out! Here's the link to Angelique's wedding album site.

And one other thing...Regan and Brad created their own wedding website in a semi-blog format and I thought it was neat! Not only it's informational, but I find it more personal. So I highly recommend you to check their site out! ^_^

Congratulations, Regan and Brad!

Thank you so much for giving me the honor
to be a part of your special day!
Many happy wishes for you always! ^_^

My Bestfriend's Wedding

by Papertini 30 October 2008 01:33

Selly and I have been friends since we were in highschool, back in Jakarta, Indonesia. The funny thing is...we didn't get to really hang out until college when she went to UW Stevens Point and I went to UW Madison. Fate brought us closer when I transferred to UW Stevens Point my sophomore year and we have been inseparable in spirit since then. ^_^ She moved to Arizona our junior year and though I was really heartbroken the day she left. But I am glad that she did move cuz if not, she wouldn't have met Andre, her hubby. So as usual, God makes everything beautiful at its time. ^_^

I offered her to take care of her wedding floral needs and this marked my first out-of-state gig. I walked into this knowing fully that there are challenges that comes with it. But...for those who know me, my name is not Tanti if I don't take chances on challenges. Hehehe... I love going through all these experiences! They are so worth it.

First of all, I did work out of her apartment with the help of her aunt-in-law, who happens to be a certified floral designer. This is indeed a big bonus for me because I learned so much more from her! What I appreciate the most is that she let me fly with my ideas and she was nothing but a big help. I really appreciate it! ^_^

For fellow floral designers who are looking for wholesalers in Arizona, I got the flowers through Mayesh Wholesale Florist (I went to their Chandler branch) and I love them! They have great customer service and their flowers are of great quality. So I highly suggest to check them out for your floral needs! ^_^ Selly rented all her vases from Andrew Party Rental; they are affordable and they have different varieties of vases and other party needs.

Selly's wedding is the third "Blue-colored" wedding I did this year and you know what they say...third time is a charm. ^_^ The concept I had for her wedding reception is "Garden Setting" - full and naturalistic. Flowers I used: Hydrangeas, Irises, Delphinium, Aster Monte Casino, Dendrobium Orchids, and green fillers. I also added imitation moss from Accent Decor (love this company!) and river rocks (be careful when you put these in glass containers, they're heavy and yes, they will break your vase if you drop them). The branch I used is Manzanita and Selly bought them from save-on-craft.com.

Her bouquet consists of Ivory Roses (Vendella), Blue Thistle (this plant is pokey, so I won't suggest using too many of this for your bouquet... ^_^), Veronica, Light Blue Delphinium , and Ivory Mini Calla Lilies.

Another fun item I made for her wedding is the ring bearer's "pillow". It's not a traditional pillow - it's a styrofoam wrapped with galax leaves, diamond pins and I placed a few Dendrobium Orchids on top. Fun, right?? ^_^ It's light, too! (Galax leaves and Dendrobiums can survive without water for at least a whole day).

For those of you who reside and/or plan to have your wedding in Arizona, here are Selly's vendors' list:

Ceremony: St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church

- A church with a modern touch with hints of Spanish style architectural designs.

Reception: Verrado Grille

- Gorgeous and stunning view of the golf course. Excellent and friendly staff. They make one of the very best Mojitos I have ever had!! Great spread of hors d'oeuvre and entrees. Highly recommended!

Photographer: Reeves Photography

- Lee and Cindy are very friendly and they have warm personality. Put you at ease and their work is definitely wonderful. I personally love their photography style. Highly recommended!

DJ: Scott Keo

- He's fun, flexible and knows how to work the crowd. Highly recommended!

Congratulations and many happy wishes

for my bestfriend, Selly and her hubby, Andre! Love you two!!
